“Bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!” (1 Chron 16:29). Holy! Six times in six verses (Lev 6:25-30) we are told that everything pertaining to the sin offering must be holy. The sin offering was “most holy” (v 25). The flesh of the animal was then […]

The food we eat was living once, and died so we can live. But then it comes back to life in us! Leviticus 6:14-18 focuses on those grain offerings from which the priests could eat a portion; verses 19-23 describe the grain offerings that were all for God. We earlier quoted the words of our […]
Our lives are combustible, but we need the Lord to examine our treasures to see if they’re fireproof. In Leviticus 6:8-13, we have God instructing the priests regarding the fire for the burnt offering. What is the big issue? God tells us THREE times: “The fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it.…it […]
God is an excellent teacher, and builds “precept upon precept” and “line upon line” to help us. So there we have it: the five main offerings given to the children of Israel and ultimately revealing five glorious aspects of Christ’s person and work. Leviticus 1, the burnt offering, which was all for God’s possession. Chapter […]
Ordinary words fail us. Much more? How about lavishly, extravagantly, infinitely, incalculably more! Leviticus 6:5 reads, “He shall restore its full value, add one-fifth more to it, and give it to whomever it belongs.” In our last lesson, we thought about a practical way to apply the trespass offering to fixing damaged relationships. By not […]
Here’s one of the most valuable practical lessons we can learn in dealing with damaged relations. We now turn our attention to the trespass offering (from Lev 5:14 to 6:7). Earlier we remarked that all sin is primarily against God. However, many of the consequences are felt by those around us. And it is this […]
This issue is too important; it is incumbent that the teacher cross every t and dot every i. When considering the eternal destiny of a soul, there can’t be any untidy thinking. And as we examine this offering for sin that has no blood in it, we must ask what it is teaching. It can’t […]
The impoverished man without a blood sacrifice could still hear, “It shall be forgiven him.” In Leviticus 5:5-13, the Lord made sure everyone could be forgiven, even those unable to bring the smallest blood sacrifice. If “not able…, then he who sinned shall bring…fine flour” (v 11). A sin offering with no blood! How can […]
Does God want everyone to be able to come to Him, even those who can’t bring a lamb? Here’s a crucial question. Can someone be saved without understanding what happened at the Cross? Rahab was, and is used in both Hebrews (11:31) and James (2:25) as an example of how people get saved. The men […]
