JESUS the TRUTH (Jn 14:6): “And the governor asked Him, saying, ‘Are You the King of the Jews?’ So Jesus said to him, ‘It is as you say’” (Mt 27:11). A story is told in Today in the Word (Aug 5, 1993) about Henry Augustus Rowland. In 1876, he became the first occupant of the […]
“He who is least among you all will be great” (Lk 9:48). Samuel Rogers wrote: “That very law which moulds a tear, And bids it trickle from its source, That law preserves the earth a sphere, And guides the planets in their course.” Paul understood this. The smallest movement of a believer ripples out into […]
“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me…and I will love him and manifest Myself to him” (Jn 14:21). The call of Christ is clear, comprehensive and compelling. He gave His life for me and now offers to live His life in and through me. I owe Him everything. […]
Here’s one of life’s ironies. On November 15, 2017, Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud purchased Leonardo da Vinci’s painting titled “Salvator Mundi” for a record-breaking $450.3 million. Why ironic? The world’s most expensive painting, owned at various times by three of England’s kings, is now the possession of the Royal House […]
Isn’t it remarkable? A man living first in a palace, then in a desert, has the same prayer requests you do! We now begin Book IV in the Psalms. Being “A Prayer of Moses the man of God,” Psalm 90 is perhaps the oldest in the Psalter, 500 years before David. Psalm 91, continuing the theme of […]
CHRIST INCORRUPTIBLE: “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible…be honor and glory forever and ever” (1 Tim 1:17). The word aphthartos, here translated “immortal,” is found 7x in the NT, and in all instances should be translated “incorruptible.” Paul records the sad history of humanity that “changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an […]
“Revive me according to Your lovingkindness, so that I may keep the testimony of Your mouth” (Ps 119:88). We have already looked at this prayer for personal revival in verses 25, 37, and 40 of this amazing psalm. And we’ll see it again in verses 107, 149, 154, 156, and 159. NINE times David requests […]
Chuck Colson, one-time “hatchet man” for President Nixon, was being interviewed by an Australian radio host. With just 20 seconds left, the host asked, “Mr. Colson,…the goals most people strive their whole lives for, you have achieved—only to see it collapse as you fell from the White House to prison. But now you’re out, leading […]
The whole world awaits the restoration of the rightful Heir to the throne. Come, blessed King! Like the distinction in the New Testament between the ideal position of the believer in Christ and the less-than-ideal condition of the believer still in this evil world, in Psalm 89 Ethan gives both the glorious description of the Davidic Covenant and the […]
