WHAT the SON was “MADE” (ginomai) or BECAME in His RESURRECTION and EXALTATION (Part 3): “God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36). “Being made so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they” (Heb 1:4). As well, “By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament” (Heb 7:22). And now there is a new kind of Priest, “who is made…according to the power of an endless life” (Heb 7:15-16). Picture, too, the moment when this happens, when it is seen that “The stone which the builders rejected has been made the chief cornerstone” (1 Pet 2:7). And His raising is the guarantee of our raising! “Now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept” (1 Cor 15:20). No wonder He deserves to be First! “And He is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things He might have (become) the preeminence” (Col 1:18).
