CHRIST our PERFUME: “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing” (2 Cor 2:14-15). George Henderson tells of one of the earliest missionaries to Japan who became well acquainted with members of Japan’s ruling family. Some years later, while back in Britain, he was visited in his apartment by some of Japan’s royalty. Later that day, another group of Japanese officials came calling. “Oh,” one of them exclaimed, “You have been entertaining royalty here today.” “How would you know?” the missionary enquired. “There is a perfume manufactured in our country for the exclusive use of royalty. No one else is allowed to use it, and its fragrant odor is in evidence in this apartment, so we know you have had royal visitors today!” —from “Winsome Christianity”
