CHRIST the HIDING PLACE: “A Man will be as a hiding place…” (Isa 23:2). R.G. LeTourneau (1888–1969), was a renowned inventor of earth-moving machinery. LeTourneau machines were nearly 70 percent of the earth-moving equipment and engineering vehicles used by Allied forces during World War II. Raised in a Christian home, he tells of his conversion in his autobiography, God Runs My Business. “About the time I was 16, I began to realize that something was wrong in my life. I tried to turn over a new leaf many times, but each time I failed…Then a special revival came and everybody said, ‘Are you going tonight?’…I went home from the meeting that night and…the thought came to me: if I should die tonight, I would go out into a lost eternity…Then I cried out in desperation to God, ‘Lord, save me or I perish.’ Right there, something happened…the full reality of salvation came into my soul…How glad I am that I have a know-so salvation.”
