CHRIST THE ONE WE PREACH: “We preach Christ…” (1 Cor 1:23) T.D.W. Muir was born in Ormstown, Quebec in 1855. As a result of a near drowning, his father was converted. Shortly after, the family moved to Hamilton, Ontario, where Donald Munro and John Smith were preaching. After six weeks of meetings, however, no one had professed salvation. But then Mr. Muir Sr. attended, accompanied by Thomas. On the wall behind the preachers was a large notice: “Friend, you art traveling to eternity: to an everlasting Heaven or to an endless Hell! Which?” So pointed was the question, and so powerful the working of the Spirit, that Thomas Muir was deeply troubled. Two nights later, he was back. He later wrote: “While John 3:36 was being quoted from the platform, I looked away from self and sin, and found peace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God…” For 56 years, he proclaimed that simple message, seeing many gloriously saved.
