CHRIST the ONE who can MAKE OLD THINGS NEW: “Behold, I make all things new” (Rev 21:5). If only we could go back in time, we might make old things new. But Christ instead takes us up into the realm of the eternal. He gives us a new birth (Jn 3:3) which is life from above (anothen), introducing us to the “new and living way,” a heavenly highway consecrated just for us (Heb 10:20) that makes it possible for us to enter there whenever we desire. In fact, “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Cor 5:17). Yes, all things new! Adam Clarke writes the believer is “a new creation, a little world in himself; formerly, all was in chaotic disorder; now, there is a new creation, which God Himself owns as His workmanship, and which He can look on and pronounce very good.” And I’m looking forward to the new song we’ll sing (Rev 5:9) in the new heavens and earth (2 Pet 3:13) that He will make as well!
