JESUS “FAITHFUL and TRUE” (Rev 19:11). “Faithful” (pistos) refers to one who “can be relied on…in the transaction of business, the execution of commands, or the discharge of official duties”; while “true” (alethinos) speaks of “that which has not only the name and resemblance, but the real nature corresponding to the name, in every respect.” In other words, Christ is trustworthy in ALL HE DOES and ALL HE IS! This is crucial to remind ourselves when the world disagrees with His witness, because “in the latter times” some “having departed from the faith, have suffered shipwreck” (1 Tim 1:19); “some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons” (4:1); and some have “condemnation because they have cast off their first faith” (5:12). Some also “have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows” (6:10). We need to heed the simple command of our Lord, “Have faith in God” (Mk 11:22).
