JESUS RAISED UP: “Behold, My Servant shall deal prudently; He shall be exalted and extolled and be very high” (Isa 52:13). The word for “exalted” means to be raised up; the word for “extolled” means to be borne up; but to be “very high” has no movement in it. God’s Servant has reached the pinnacle; there is no place higher. Men lifted Him up, of course—at Calvary. He predicted this: “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up” (Jn 3:14). And He told His people what the result of their action would be: “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself” (Jn 12:32). Imagine that! In their lifting Him up to die, they inadvertently revealed Him to a desperate world as the Savior for sinners! As Peter put it, “The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered (raised up) by hanging on a tree. Him God has exalted (raised up) to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give…forgiveness of sins (raising us up!)” (Acts 5:30-31).
