OUR LORD JESUS—THE MAN: “Through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins” (Acts 13:38). Roland Mills moved from Scotland to the Prairies of Canada. There he was employed in training medical personnel in caring for mentally handicapped children. In the facility was a boy who never spoke in more than two-word sentences. He always carried a photo of Holman Hunt’s painting, “The Light of the World.” One day, Roland sat beside the boy and asked, “Who is that in the picture?” No answer. Finally, after several attempts, the boy responded, “A man.” “What man?” Roland persisted. Again silence. Then, “You know.” “But,” insisted brother Mills, “who is that man in the picture?” “You know.” Try after try failed. Then, to Roland’s absolute amazement, the boy of the two-word sentences finally responded: “That’s the man who died for my sins.” The Spirit doesn’t need the equipment we do to communicate. He speaks directly to the inner man!
