CHRIST the DOER: “I always DO those things that please Him” (Jn 8:29). If we are to follow Christ, we will also be doers. As He said, “If you know these things, happy are you if you do them” (Jn 13:17). We do well to follow the advice of Mary, “Whatever He says to you, do it” (2:5). It brings us into family nearness: “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it” (Lk 8:21), and friendship status, “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you” (Jn 15:14). And HOW should we do what He says? “Do all to the glory of God” (1 Cor 10:31). “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Col 3:17). “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men” (3:23). “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith” (Gal 6:10). Is it possible to live like this? Yes, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Php 4:13).
