The evolutionist wants to silence nature as the voice of God, but it eloquently speaks everywhere.
Job’s friends have simplistically concluded that life follows a basic equation: do good and you get goods. If you see a rich man, he must be a good man. And the opposite is also true. If Job has lost his wealth, he must have lost his way. This is so superficial, replies Job. Haven’t you noticed? “The tents of robbers prosper, and those who provoke God are secure—in what God provides by His hand” (Job 12:6). Sometimes when you get goods, it is because you’re good—at robbing! And God doesn’t immediately judge those who blaspheme. In fact, His hand provides the atheist with his breakfast. I tell you, gentlemen, sometimes your aforementioned donkeys (11:12) are more helpful than you in discovering God’s ways. “But now ask the beasts, and they will teach you; and the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you; and the fish of the sea will explain to you” (12:7-8). When humans make wrong assumptions, commit logical fallacies, or hurl unwarranted criticisms, says Job, I think I’d prefer learning from birds and fish! Do you know why? Because behind nature is “the hand of the Lord” (v 9), and I trust whatever He does. You, not so much. “Does not the ear test words and the mouth taste its food?” (v 11). I’ve been putting what you say to the test, and unfortunately your opinions are sour notes and rancid bites. So (vv 13-25) let’s think about what the Lord says and does. “With Him are wisdom and strength, He has counsel and understanding” (v 13). Imagine having a Friend who knows what to do (wisdom) and can do it (strength). He knows how to advise (counsel) and has sympathy for our needs (understanding). No, you don’t have to imagine. You have a Friend exactly like that.
