CHRIST the REPRODUCER: “Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain” (Jn 12:24). As with Abram, the Lord blesses us that we may be the channel of His blessing to others (Gen 12:1-2). The Lord saves us and then enlists us in the salvation of others (Mt 4:19). He comforts us, not only to be comforted, but “that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” (2 Cor 1:4). He loves us, and desires that we should love others (Jn 13:34) with His own love deposited in our hearts. He sacrificially gave His life for us, and to us, that we might give our lives (really His life in us) back to Him in sacrificial service (2 Cor 5:14-15). And, wonder of wonders, the One who glorified God on earth has shared with us that very glory that, as He said to His Father, “the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.”
