April 9 Petition Mission

“He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still. And behold, I am coming quickly” (Rev 22:11-12).

What a strange request from the Lord’s own lips! He will come so abruptly that there will be little time for repentance. The call echoes down the ages: “Prepare to meet your God” (Amos 4:12).

I read of an eccentric Scottish preacher who was not afraid to startle people into realizing their need to prepare. One of his townsfolk said, “I was very busy in my shop, when, right in the midst of my work, in stepped the doctor, without so much as a knock or a word of announcement. ‘Did you expect me?’ was his abrupt inquiry. ‘No, sir,’ was the reply, ‘I did not.’ He waited a minute and then said solemnly, ‘What if I had been Death?’ ” The man confessed that the shock set him to thinking and led to his conversion.

Is there someone you should pray for and then alert today? It’s love that warns!
