CHRIST our SANCTIFICATION: “Of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us…sanctification” (1 Cor 1:30). “Sanctification” comes from the same root meaning of holiness, hagiazo. It means to be set apart, then to be wholly for God, and finally the process by which those declared right (justified) shall be made right. Positional sanctification: “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (Heb 10:14). Experiential sanctification: “Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore let us go forth to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach” (Heb 13:12-14). Ultimate sanctification: “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it” (1 Thess 5:23-24). Christ is doing this through His death, resurrection life, and present ministry.
