December 9 Petition Mission

“And now for a little while grace has been shown from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage” (Ezra 9:8). What a prayer! Judah didn’t deserve help, but God never forgets His own, and in grace would give them “a little reviving” (KJV).

Look what the man of God desires: “a peg [or nail] in His holy place.” What is this nail? Let other prophets explain. “Out of him [Judah] came forth the corner, out of him the nail, out of him the battle bow” (Zech 10:4, KJV). Isaiah writes: “The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; so he shall open, and no one shall shut; and he shall shut, and no one shall open. I will fasten him as a peg in a secure place, and he will become a glorious throne to his father’s house. They will hang on him all the glory…” (22:22-24). Isaiah 9:6 and Revelation 3:7 prove this to be our Savior.

Father, through Your Son, please enlighten our eyes and revive us!
