“How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” (Ps 119:103).
Do you ever think how much work it takes to give you a spoonful of honey? With their wings moving at 12,000 beats/minute, bees fly more than once around the world to gather just one pound of honey; in fact, it requires over 500 worker bees to do that. They need to tap almost 2 million flowers just for that pound. In its entire lifetime, one worker bee produces only 1/12th of a teaspoon. Yet more than all of that, the benefit of bees pollinating crops is almost 20 times the value of the honey produced. Thus the phrase repeated 20 times regarding the good country the Lord provided His people, “a land flowing with milk and honey.”
Let me ask you, Christian, is the Word like honey to you? Perhaps the bees can show us, by their patient and diligent gathering of the nectar, the secret of sweetness in the Word. Lord of the bees and the Bible, show us the secret of enjoying Your sweetness today.
