How well do people around us really know us? How well do we know ourselves? Charlie Chaplin began appearing in silent movies in 1914. By 1918, he was one of the best-known figures in the world. At the height of his popularity, he entered a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest in San Francisco. He came in at number 20!
In this age of social distancing and Facebook personas, there is one Person who knows us best. He knew our whole story even before it is written! Surely He’s the one Person we can be honest with. He knows you—but does He like you? The psalm continues: “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You” (vv 17-18).
