“Then Samson called to the Lord, saying, ‘O Lord God, remember me, I pray! Strengthen me, I pray, just this once, O God…’” (Jdg 16:28). Strange, isn’t it. When we ask of others, we might say something like, “Just this once! I’ll never ask for anything ever again!” But with the Lord? When we need something from Him, we recall His past generosity, and that inspires us to ask again!
Remember the other John 3:16? “By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren” (1 Jn 3:16). But John continues, “Whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?” You see the point? If we’re going to love God’s way, it will be practical, sacrificial, generous. So come often. Ask much. Share with others. D.L. Moody said, “Some people think God does not like to be troubled with our constant coming and asking. The way to trouble God is not to come at all.”
