“Now when he was in affliction, he implored the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, and prayed to Him; and He received his entreaty, heard his supplication, and brought him back to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord was God” (2 Chron 33:12-13).
This has to be one of the biggest biblical bombshells! I was staying in the home of a new believer, who had a study spot in the attic. Early one morning, I heard him tumbling down the stairs, shouting, “God saved Manasseh!” It is a joy in discovery, I should note, unavailable to those who skip the Chronicles in their reading!
Manasseh has to be one of the most wicked men on record, but OH THE GRACE OF GOD! If anyone has any doubt about the efficacy of prayer, let it die here. It is not only that Manasseh had proof that the Lord is God, but that this God will hear and answer and save any scoundrel who humbles himself and prays. Know any scoundrels you can pray for today?
