August 12 Petition Mission

“He who is least among you all will be great” (Lk 9:48).

Samuel Rogers wrote:
“That very law which moulds a tear,
And bids it trickle from its source,
That law preserves the earth a sphere,
And guides the planets in their course.”

Paul understood this. The smallest movement of a believer ripples out into eternity. A word of testimony, a smile of kindness, a seemingly trivial deed—all work according to the same principles as does the Divine. That’s why he linked our little gifts with Christ’s “indescribable gift” (2 Cor 9:15). Even the seemingly selfish act of food consumption, wrote the apostle, is tied to the grandest of purposes: “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Cor 10:31).

There are no little people. Everyone I meet has the potential of being a member of heaven’s royal family. And we should not consider anything a little deed. Each one can be utilized to accomplish God’s will. Lord, take my little and make it much for Your glory today.
