George Hucklesby shows the simple but effective method used by the one who led him into full assurance. After hearing a gospel message, a kind lady asked him if he was sure of being saved. No, he was not. “Would you like to be saved now?” she asked. “Yes,” he responded, but wondered how that was possible. She asked George to kneel with her as she “asked the Lord to complete His work of grace in my heart.” On their knees, she opened the Bible at Isaiah 53 and asked him to read the fifth verse this way, “But he was wounded for my transgressions, he was bruised for my iniquities: the chastisement of my peace was upon him; and with his stripes I am healed.” When asked about its truth, he replied, “I believe that Jesus died for me.” Turning to John 5, she asked him to read verse 24, “He who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” Immediately he knew the truth and it set him free.
