Your Jerusalem

 

[dropcap] T [/dropcap]here was no place for Jesus in Jerusalem but there was a large and tender place for Jerusalem in Jesus. “And when He was come near, He beheld the city, and wept over it” (Lk 19:41). Has anyone wept over your city lately? No doubt there is much to weep over. But Jesus also prayed for the city and we should pray for ours as well.

Here are some suggested people and things to pray for:

  • the Mayor, the council and civil servants
    • –wisdom in decisions, seek God’s help
  • the sheriff/police chief and police force
    • safety, integrity, suppression of evil, and
      freedom to continue gospel work
  • judges, prosecutors and legal staffhonesty, wisdom, impartiality
  • warden, prison guards and security forces
    • safety, allow access for gospel in prisons
  • youth offender facilities
    • access, spiritual rescue of damaged youth
  • school board, principals, teachers, students
    • access for gospel, Christian role models
  • trade school instructors, college professors
  • business leaders, shop keepers, employees
  • unemployed, underemployed, the poor
  • doctors, nurses, and medical personnel
  • crisis pregnancy centers, abortion clinics
  • day care centers, retirement homes
  • abused women/children centers
  • volunteers: blood banks, food kitchens, rescue missions, meals on wheels, transport
    • generosity, opportunities for believers
  • ministers, Sunday school teachers, all professing believers: whether saved or lost that the Word may convict and convert, for true and widespread revival in the churches
  • strengthening of all marriages
  • single parent families, neglected children
  • the city’s youth: safety, salvation, holiness
  • homeless, addicted, the criminal element
    • liberating of the gospel, practical help
  • food providers: farmers, bakeries, dairies, grocery stores, etc.
    • food safety, daily provision, help for poor
  • drivers: train, bus, taxi, truck, delivery
    • safety, opportunity to hear the gospel
  • bicyclists, runners, motorcyclists’ safety
  • the media: journalists, radio, TV, internet
    • fair reporting, favorable to Christianity, opportunities for us to spread the Word
  • dangerous occupations: power company, phone company, emergency services
  • disadvantaged: blind, deaf, paralyzed
  • sufferers, lonely, depressed, broken-hearted, hospitalized, care-givers…and many more!
