August 7 Petition Mission

“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely” (Rev 22:17).

The first time the Lord Jesus came, it was not a day too soon: “When the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son” (Gal 4:4). Three facts are true—the Messenger was sent; the Gift was given; the Servant chose to come. God “sent His Son” (1 Jn 4:10). God “gave His…Son” (Jn 3:16). He also said, “I came forth from God” (Jn 16:27). Yet in spite of the many prophecies and proclamations, Jesus still took the world by surprise.

Will it be different when He comes again? No, His coming will be right on schedule. His coming will be because the Father has sent Him, but also because He is personally eager to bring His Bride home. And will His coming to snatch them away bring shock and dismay to the masses? That too! But in the midst of the chaos around us, we pray, “Come, Lord Jesus!”
