“Please let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open, that You may hear the prayer of Your servant which I pray before You now,…and confess the sins of the children of Israel which we have sinned against You” (Neh 1:6).
One mark of spiritual maturity is to shoulder the failures of your people. Adrian Rogers wrote: “America [like many countries] is on the brink. We may be on the brink of blessing or incredible judgment. I firmly believe that God is our only hope; and at the same time, God Himself is our biggest threat. It is my conviction that we do not need to persuade God to bless us as a nation, but permit Him to do so.”
What permits Him? The answer is obvious. It is in the context of national repentance that the Lord declares: “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow,” then adds, “If you are WILLING and OBEDIENT, you shall eat the good of the land; but if you REFUSE and REBEL, you shall be devoured by the sword” (Isa 1:18-20). Pray for the nations today!
