CHRIST the KING ETERNAL: “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,…out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting” (Mic 5:2). We were creatures of time, corruptible and doomed to utter collapse. But into our dusty world the Savior came. And, according to God’s eternal purpose (Eph 3:11), He provided us eternal salvation (Heb 5:9) based on an eternal redemption price (9:12). Now possessing eternal life by faith (Jn 10:28) and finding a refuge in the eternal God (Deut 33:27), we are sealed by the eternal Spirit (Heb 9:14) until the day of our arrival in our eternal Home (2 Cor 5:1). There we have an eternal inheritance (Heb 9:15), and upon each of His own will abide an eternal weight of glory (2 Cor 4:17) with which our earthly suffering is not worthy to be compared. Thus time-bound, change-fraught, corruption-susceptible creatures will have entered a world “incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away.”
