JESUS OUR INTIMATE: “At my first defense no one stood with me.…But the Lord stood with me” (2 Tim 4:16-17). Paul could only find one person to stand by him in his hour of need. Who? The Lord Himself! That’s the kind of friend everybody needs. Doesn’t it make sense, then, to respond to His six heart-warming desires? 1. “Come to Me—all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28). 2. “Learn from Me—for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Mt 11:29). 3. “Abide in Me—If…My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” (Jn 15:7). 4. “Follow Me—If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you?” (Jn 21:22). 5. “Remember Me—He took bread, gave thanks broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body…given for you” (Lk 22:19). 6. “Love Me—If [so], he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him” (Jn 14:23).
