CHRIST the LORD of GLORY (1 Cor 2:8). Andrew Welwood, a young Scot, fled persecution to London, but there succumbed to tuberculosis. Before he headed Home, he left a book of personal letters titled A Glimpse of Glory. Here are some samples: “Death has a terrible face to those who place all their happiness in this life, but I fear it not; it is not death to me but a harbinger of glory.…I am going from the twilight to the noon-day splendor of His presence, from a dunghill to a throne, from bodily infirmities…to a land where the inhabitants shall not say, ‘I am sick.’…Oh, what do you think of Christ? Is there any like Him? Is there any but Him? If you have Him, you have all things; His worth cannot be told. What do you think of it—to be saved from everlasting burnings? What do you think of it—that once-wretched sinners are as happy as can be? And all purchased by the death of our kindest Lord Jesus. Who would not love Him and wish to be with Him?”
