CHRIST the ESCAPE MASTER: “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation…?” (Heb 2:3). I recall reading the account of seven prisoners of a Soviet camp near the Arctic Circle. After escaping the camp, they walked to India—through Mongolia, the Gobi Desert, and over the Himalayas to safety. Walked a whole year, over 4,000 miles! But the Lord Jesus is a far better escape: from sin, death, and hell. And this is not the only escape He has provided. He not only gave His life, He also gave His Word, “by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Pet 1:4). And there’s more! “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” (1 Cor 10:13).
