CHRIST the ULTIMATE GIVER: “the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Gal 2:20). And look what He’s given to us! “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish” (Jn 10:28). What next? Surprisingly, He offers us His yoke: “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Mt 11:29). What follows? “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (Jn 14:27). It results in this: “…that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves” (17:13). And think of this: to be welcomed into the affection of the Divine Persons! “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love” (15:9). No wonder the Lord predicts for those who enjoy being at home in that love: “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (14:21). For along with His life and peace and joy and love, we have His directives. Who would not trust Him?
