CHRIST the PROMISE-KEEPER: “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful” (Heb 10:23). Henry Durbanville tells the following story: William P. White recounts how, as a young preacher, he received a message one morning, “Father Junkins is dying and wants to see you.” The dying man was 87 years of age, an outstanding Christian in the village. The servant of the Lord prayed, “O God, give me a message for this dying saint.” When he entered the man’s bedroom, the aged believer said, ‘For years I have been feasting on the promises of God; but this morning when I woke up I could not remember one of them. What shall I do?’ “Then,” said Dr. White, “God gave me an answer, on which, after visiting the bedsides of scores of dying saints during forty years, I cannot improve. I said to him, ‘Father Junkins, do you think that God will forget any of His promises?’ ‘Praise God,’ he said, ‘He will remember them, won’t He?’”
