June 29 Petition Mission

“He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; nor has He hidden His face from Him.… All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before You. For the kingdom is the Lord’s, and He rules over the nations” (Ps 22:24, 27-28).

In their book 13th Gen, Bill Strauss and Neil Howe write about the 13th generation of Americans, those born between 1961 and 1981. They describe them as “unlucky” because they were the first generation “whose mothers took pills not to have children, the first to go through the divorce revolution, and the first to go to school when schools stopped teaching traditional curriculum.” Howe says, “They’re individually optimistic and collectively pessimistic.”

The believer, on the other hand, has lost all hope in the individual without Christ, but has endless optimism in Christ’s ability to bring the whole world under His sway, “for the kingdom is the Lord’s.” Lord, our hope is only in You!
