CHRIST OUR INSPIRATION to WORK HARD: “He who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” (Jn 14:12). Titus 2:14 declares that Christ “gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” God’s people should be “well reported for good works” (1 Tim 5:10) in their communities. And this not hit or miss, but showing “a pattern of good works” (Titus 2:7). In fact, those who are rich in this world’s resources (the large majority of those of us living in the developed world) are instructed to be also “rich in good works” (1 Tim 6:18). And when the Scripture says that we are to be “prepared for every good work” (2 Tim 2:21) it is referring to a work done in us so that God can do His work through us. Thus, in following our Lord’s example, people to see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven (Jn 10:32; Mt 5:16).
