“After two days He will revive us; on the third day He will raise us up, that we may live in His sight” (Hos 6:2).
How desperately we need reviving! And what is its basis? How does God revive His people? Adam Clarke comments: “These words are supposed to refer to the death and resurrection of our Lord; and it is thought that the apostle refers to them in 1 Corinthians 15:4, ‘Christ rose again the third day, according to the Scriptures.’ This is the only place in…the Old Testament where His resurrection on the third day seems to be hinted at. The original has been translated, ‘He will raise Him up.’”
The secret of our certain resurrection is that Christ is alive! But isn’t this also the secret of true revival — a fresh appreciation for the living Christ with us, and a renewed commitment to Christ living through us! O that it might happen now as it did to them: “Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.” “Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them.” He’s at the door knocking.
