“Yet now, if You will forgive their sin—but if not, I pray, blot me out of Your book which You have written” (Ex 32:32).
Total commitment! Moses may have been recording the muster roll of the nation while on the mount. He couldn’t see himself enjoying God’s blessings without them.
I recall reading of the visit of Wilbur Chapman with William Booth. Upon asking Booth the secret of his success, Chapman writes, “He hesitated a second, and I saw the tears come into his eyes and steal down his cheeks, and then he said: ‘I will tell you the secret. God has had all there was of me to have. There may have been men with greater opportunities; but from the day I got the poor of London on my heart, and a vision of what Jesus Christ could do, I made up my mind that God would have all there was of William Booth. If there is anything of power in the Salvation Army today, it is because God has had all the adoration of my heart, all the power of my will, and all the influence of my life.’”
