“Grace be with you all. Amen” (Titus 3:15). This lovely benediction, in one form or another, concludes each of Paul’s epistles. The most common form is, “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen” (Rom; 1 Cor; Php; 1 & 2 Thes). The most expansive is, “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen” (2 Cor).
Adam Clarke describes the sentiment of the greeting in this way: “May the Divine favor ever rest upon you and among you; and may you receive, from that source of all good, whatever is calculated to make you wise, holy, useful, and happy! And may you be enabled to persevere in the truth to the end of your lives! Amen. May it be so! May God seal the prayer by giving the blessings!”
G.R.A.C.E. = God’s riches at Christ’s expense (see 2 Cor 8:9)! God’s desire in saving you? “That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus” (Eph 2:7).
