CHRIST our COUNSELOR: “And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor…” (Isa 9:6). Do you need marriage or family counseling? Grief counseling? Financial counseling? Guidance or career counseling? Personal issues or anxiety counseling? I know Someone who specializes in all of these. Of Him it is recorded, “The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord” (11:2). The testimony of those who have availed themselves of His services—free and open 24/7—is this: “I will praise Your name, for You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth” (25:1). It is not, of course, that He never uses human agents to help us in our hours of need. We know He does. But they themselves must seek counsel from Him to have the right advice to give to us. After all, in Him “are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Col 2:3).
