CHRIST our PASSOVER: “Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us” (1 Cor 5:7). God offered Pharaoh evidence that He was the God to be worshipped. He wanted the king to be a vessel of His mercy, for He desires to “have mercy on all” (Rom 11:32). Though hardening himself against God (and God subsequently controlling the rate at which he was hardened), he could not stop God from using him as a vessel in His service. But instead he became a vessel for God’s wrath. And how did God pour out His wrath? We call it the Passover—the most accurate picture of the Cross of Christ in the Old Testament. You recall God’s intention? “That I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth” (Rom 9:17). How many will be in heaven as a result of the preaching of the Passover? Through the revealing of God’s wrath (in type on Egypt; in reality at the Cross) and the provision of the Pascal Lamb, His Name is still being declared in all the earth!
