CHRIST our VERY PRESENT HELP: “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy” (Jude 24). Thomas Guthrie writes: “If the world is growing less in your sight, it shows that you are retreating from it, rising above it, and, upborne in the arms of grace, are ascending to a higher region. And if, to your eyes, the fashion of this world seems to be passing away, it is because we ourselves are passing—passing on the way to heaven. Sin never changes. If objects which once seemed lovely look loathsome now, if pleasures once desired are detested now, if what we once eagerly sought we now shun and shrink from, it is not because sin is changed, but—blessed be God, and praise be ascribed to His grace—we are changed.” When we feel unable, He is able. When we see our many faults, we rejoice that through His transforming work, our Lord Jesus will present us faultless on that Day!
