“I cling to Your testimonies; O Lord, do not put me to shame! I will run the course of Your commandments, for You shall enlarge my heart” (Ps 119:31-32).
Notice the strong verbs that David uses here. There is nothing passive or half-hearted about his commitment. When it comes to the Word of God—especially the recounting of His testimonies—David doesn’t just concede the point, or theoretically accept the ideas. He CLINGS to whatever God says! And when he describes the effort he wants to put into pursuing God’s will, it isn’t a saunter or an evening walk. He RUNS the course! If that is the case, such LARGE-HEARTED ones will have no shame in their future. They need never fear that they will “be ashamed before Him at His coming” (1 Jn 2:28).
If you are “diligent to present yourself approved to God,” then you will be “a worker who does not need to be ashamed” (2 Tim 2:15). And of such it is the amazing testimony that “God is not ashamed to be called their God” either (Heb 11:16).
