CHRIST the REWARDER: “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me” (Rev 22:12). It cannot be mercenary to labor for rewards if the Lord Jesus offers them as an incentive. Paul writes: “There is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing” (2 Tim 4:8). James says, “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him” (1:12). And Peter adds, “When the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away” (1 Pet 5:4). The secret of rewards is understood when we see the elders in heaven casting their crowns at the Savior’s feet (Rev 4:10). Christ gives us life and all the resources to accomplish His work. Yes, He will give us rewards, but we will happily give the glory back to Him, because He deserves it all!
