March 29 Petition Mission

“My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together” (Ps 34:2-3).

“It is told in the Old Testament to the blame of Jeroboam, that ‘he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.’ But what is written and read in the Levitical Law, to Jeroboam’s blame, that very same thing, and in these very same words, God’s saints are singing this Lord’s Day to His praise before the throne of God and the Lamb. For ever since the day of Christ it has been the lowest of the people—that is, in other mens’ eyes and in their own—it has been the poor and despised, the meek and the hidden, the downtrodden and the lowly, who have had secret power and privilege with God” (A. Whyte).

This is the boast of the humble, that He takes the likes of us and makes us kings and priests to our God. So let us think and speak and sing magnificently of our God today!
