CHRIST the RESURRECTED ONE: “In our thinking we must not leave Christ on the cross; for God did not leave Him there. He ‘raised Him from the dead,’ and set Him on the throne, and made Him Lord of all. With what a rebound did the “energy of the might of God’s strength” (Eph 1:19) put forth itself in Him, when once the great sacrifice was accomplished. Ephesians 1:20-23 calls attention to three momentous truths, which together constitute the vision of Christ risen and glorified. These are the resurrection of Christ: the life renewed in Him, ‘the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ’ (vv 19-20a); the exaltation of Christ: the place assigned to Him, ‘seated…at His right hand in the heavenlies’ (v 20b); and the dominion of Christ: the authority invested in Him, ‘He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things’ (vv 21-23).” —W.
