CHRIST the LIVING WATER: “Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely” (Rev 22:17). William Gamble tells of an emaciated child who was brought from a poor neighborhood to a London hospital. On his arrival, the nurse gave him a glass of milk. Before lifting the glass to his lips, the little fellow anxiously asked, “How deep can I drink, Miss?” How much that question told of the poverty of a home where a glass had to be shared among many. He could hardly believe it when the nurse told him he could drink it all. So it is with the satisfying offer of Christ to those who thirst for righteousness (Mt 5:6). He is all for us! I am not rationed in my enjoyment of Him. Though millions seek Him out to satisfy their souls, He is available at all times and in all circumstances just for you, just for me. How encouraging, yet how solemn, that we can have—and do have—as much of Christ as we want. If we want more of Him, He delights to fill us freely.
