The MYSTERY of CHRIST’S MYSTICAL BODY: Christ’s singular Headship and His many-membered Body are mysteriously bound together. Ephesians 5:25-32 says, “…Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish…For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones…This is a great MYSTERY, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.” As Eve was to Adam, so we are to Christ—the bride of His wounded side! Our life came from His life and we two are now one with Him. Ephesians 1:7-14 gives the grand finale. In “the dispensation of the fullness of the times” we will see the ultimate consummation of this relationship. And “the Holy Spirit of promise…is the guarantee” (the modern Greek arrabona means engagement ring) of that Wedding Day!
