CHRIST our TRANSFORMER: “We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Cor 3:18). You may have heard the saying: You have the face you deserve by the time you’re 40. But the Lord not only saves my soul; He saves my face, too! “I shall yet praise Him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God” (Ps 43:5). If the face is the index of the soul, then a changed soul should result in a transformed face. Robert Lee tells of a young lady who met the well-loved hymnwriter Frances Ridley Havergal on a short rail journey. Long after, she remarked how grateful she was for that meeting because it was the convincing moment that led her to trust in Christ: “I am so glad that I saw, just once, that God-satisfied face.” We claim the words of Psalm 89:15, “Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O Lord, in the light of Your countenance.”
