“Remove falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches—feed me with the food allotted to me [just what I need]” (Prov 30:8).
Samuel Chadwick tells of a time when A.T. Pierson visited George Müller: “One night when all the household had retired, Müller asked Pierson to join him in prayer. He told him that there was nothing for next morning’s breakfast. My friend reminded him that all the stores were closed. Müller knew that. They prayed—at least Müller did, and Pierson tried to. They went to bed and slept, and breakfast for two thousand children was there in abundance at the usual breakfast hour.
The full story was told next morning to Simon Short of Bristol. The details of it are thrilling, but all that need be said here is that the Lord called the benefactor out of bed in the middle of the night to send breakfast to Müller’s orphanage, and, knowing nothing of the need or of the two men at prayer, he sent provisions that would feed them for a month!”
