The MYSTERY of CHRIST INDWELLING OUR BODIES: Christ’s redemptive death for me and resurrection life in me are mysteriously bound together. “…I became a minister…to fulfill the word of God, the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this MYSTERY among the Gentiles: which is Christ in YOU, the hope of glory. Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.” (Col 1:24-27). As Samuel Rutherford put it: “Christ possessed by faith here is young heaven and glory in the bud.” See Paul’s words in Galatians 2:20 and Jesus’ words about the Vine and branches (Jn 15). When a person is born again, it is Christ Himself who is our life. It is no wonder that the life of Christ flowing through us can produce His character in us—the ongoing wonder of the incarnate Christ living in His people!
