February 16 Petition Mission

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life” (Jude vv 20-21).

Here are the four legs to a Christian’s stability. In a world buffeted by contrary circumstances, human suffering, the winds of wrong doctrine, and demonic attacks, how can we cooperate with God for our own success? Jude gives us the formula. We must be thoughtful: “building yourselves up on your most holy faith.” “Amuse” means “not to think,” the tragedy of our age. We must think on the Above Things—think or sink. Second, we must be prayerful: “praying in the Holy Spirit.” Our hearts must be open to Him in honest confession if Heaven is to be open to us. Third, we must be faithful: “keep yourselves in the love of God”—nothing between my soul and the Savior. And fourth, we must be hopeful: “looking for the mercy of our Lord.”

Never doubt the Lord’s commitment to stick with you to the end.
