CHRIST our HELPER: “So we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’” (Heb 13:6). Robert Lee was the Superintendent of the Manchester (England) City Mission from 1924 to 1947. It was a united ministry linking practical good works with the power of the Good News. On one occasion, while working in a poor district of the city, a dear Christian mother told him about the recent tender prayer of her little girl: “And, O Dod, please take care of yourself, and keep well, ’cause I don’t know what we would do without you.” The Lord is a present help in all our trouble (Ps 46:1). He is a preeminent help, for He is the one who made heaven and earth (Ps 121:2). And He is a powerful help, as King Asa cried out to the Lord in his hour of need: “Lord, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude” (2 Chron 14:11).
